The Hawker Nimrod and Fury were designed by Sydney Camm, who was later to design the Hawker Hurricane and many more famous fighting machines. The Fury and Nimrod differed only in a few areas but were otherwise almost identical. The land-based Fury had a shorter wingspan than the Nimrod and the wings were straight in plan. The early Nimrods shared this wing plan, although with a wider span. The Royal Navy's Nimrod MkIIs were given swept-back wings, a pilot headrest to make life a little easier for the pilot during catapult launches , arrestor hook and a more powerful Rolls-Royce Kestrel…
